Each Day Download 5 Million Apps – Apple Users

In March of this year Apple customers downloaded a staggering 5 million games. Per day!

In fact, it’s not quite true. Figures from market research and business Newzoo dysthymic and only 63 million users followed during this period. So the true total has got to be a lot more than that.

It seems that Apple’s most popular applications are games and they represent over 50% of all downloads from the App Store. The users which were tracked were from the United States and Europe and on average they downloaded 2 and a half games each in the month.

As if this were not enough for Apple Newzoo statistics then one day they were hit with a bomb between 6% and 7% of Internet users in the UK, USA, Germany and France have an iPhone . In Belgium and the Netherlands, this figure drops to between 3% and 4%. Despite this – or perhaps because of it; all of these figures have got us a bit dizzy – it seems that between half and three quarters of all iPhone users download games. To further confuse us it was revealed that 7 million Europeans and 15 million United States residents use an iPad to play games on their mobile device.

The survey goes on to state more percentages but 100% of the gadgets writers in the room decided that there was an 80% chance of them needing a good lie down before carrying on.

iPhone 5 – Could Have iPod-like Curved Glass Display

The Apple iPhone 5 rumors just keep piling on. In the past, the Taiwanese newspaper DigiTimes reports that the fifth-generation iPhone will come with a curved glass screen, the same type used in the Apple iPod from the fourth generation iPod Nano was released in 2008.

Citing sources from Apple’s supply chain in Taiwan, DigiTimes says that that Apple has bought 200 to 300 glass-cutting machines to eventually be used by cover glass makers. Apple had to purchase the machines because “cover glass makers have apparently been reluctant to commit investment to the purchase of glass cutting equipment due to the high capital involved,” the report says. The machines are being stored at Apple’s assembly plants (like Foxconn) until “yield rates” are satisfactory.

Several new phones have already adopted a curved glass screen, such as Samsung Nexus S, G2X Google and Samsung LG Galaxy prevail. The concave glass display of the Nexus S is often praised for feeling more comfortable when holding it up to your face. In fact curved glass displays are more about aesthetics and “perceived usability” (as Engadget notes in its review for the Nexus S) than any actual change to display quality.

Rumors about the iPhone 5 are piling up and will undoubtedly continue past the expected announcement at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June (where Apple announced the iPhone 4); last week an AT&T rep reportedly confirmed to a customer that the next-generation iPhone won’t make its debut in June or July. Meanwhile Verizon CFO Fran Shammo slipped that the next Verizon iPhone will work on CDMA and GSM networks.
